The Work Between the Work

We celebrate visible progress.

Promotions.
Finished projects.
Crossed-off to-do lists.
Milestones reached.

Some of the most important progress you’ll ever make — no one else will ever see.

Somewhere along the way, many of us began believing that if we’re not producing, we’re not progressing.

But what if that’s only half the story?

What if some of our most important work happens when it doesn’t look like we’re working at all?

There is another kind of work.

The work between the work.

It’s the quiet space where ideas connect without being forced, where perspective returns after we’ve stepped away, where emotions settle, where creativity resurfaces, and where life gently reveals what constant motion often keeps hidden.

Nature has always understood this rhythm.

Every garden has its seasons.

Seasons for planting.
Seasons for tending.
Seasons for harvesting.

And… seasons when the most important growth happens quietly beneath the surface.

Perhaps we’re not so different.

Over the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of sharing a new article with you every Tuesday. Writing these reflections has stretched me, clarified my thinking, and deepened my own understanding of what it means to Live with Presence and Create with Intention.

For that, I’m deeply grateful.

I’ve also come to realize that I don’t want to force the next idea simply because another Tuesday is approaching.

I want to make space to receive it.

So today, I’m choosing to practice what I’ve been writing about.

I’m creating space.

Not because I’m stepping away from the work, but because I’m stepping into a different kind of work.

Over the next few weeks, I won’t be publishing new articles.

Instead, I’ll spend time at the ocean watching waves crash onto the beach, walking beneath trees along a river, lingering a little longer over a cup of coffee, sitting with questions that don’t yet have answers, and allowing my mind to wander without asking it to produce anything at all.

Because rest isn’t the opposite of growth, it’s one of the conditions that makes growth possible.

The next chapter isn’t created by doing more; it’s revealed by making more space.

If you’re feeling tired… or stuck… or like you’ve been running at full speed for longer than you can remember, perhaps this is your invitation too.

Not to quit, or to stop becoming — but to trust that stepping back can also move you forward.

Maybe the breakthrough you’re searching for isn’t waiting inside more effort, but inside a little more space.

I’ll spend the next few weeks doing exactly that.

  • Making space.
  • Listening more than producing.
  • Receiving more than striving.
  • Trusting that what is meant for the next chapter will arrive exactly when it’s ready.

Thank you for reading, for reflecting, and for walking alongside me on this journey.

I’ll look forward to reconnecting with you on August 25.

Until then…

Live with Presence. Create with Intention.
