Finding Contentment In Chaos

Contentment radiates from the stillness of a peaceful heart, it cannot be attained by attempting to control your externals.

In our previous post, we acknowledged that even though it is a new year, everything unwanted did not just suddenly disappear when the clock struck midnight and 2021 arrived. The pandemic is still with us, and for many, there is still the feeling of great loss — loved ones, income, normalcy — none of which were magically fixed when the new year began.

For so many, thoughts continually persist as to when this chaos will end and life will return to normal. While the answer to that may be unclear, we can still find peace and stillness within, we can look inward and find contentment…even in the midst of chaos.

A few months back, Rebecca Menard (PHI Inc.), published an excellent article, CONTENTMENT: How to keep your Heart healthy during a global pandemic and referenced our 7-Level Emotional Scale. We appreciate how Rebecca captured the essence of our emotional scale with contentment at the center from which all potential emerges! Here are just a few of our favorite lines from her article:

Contentment is an internal emotional state of acceptance of your present reality, who and where you are at ANY given moment.

Contentment radiates from the stillness of a peaceful heart, it cannot be attained by attempting to control your externals.

Contentment is the emotional center point and constant from which all the other emotions ought to emerge, but never take over.

Contentment exists in the absence of emotional reactivity and it creates the space for you to experience the full range of emotional responses.

For a healthy heart, your emotional goal is to maintain connection with the stillness within your center where contentment resides, no matter what other emotions you may be feeling in the moment.

To help us apply her insight and wisdom on contentment and keep our heart healthy, Rebecca concludes by sharing four keys to finding contentment during a global pandemic. To learn more, you can read her entire article here: CONTENTMENT: How to keep your Heart healthy during a global pandemic.

A special thanks to Rebecca for sharing her insight and wisdom!
